Welcome to KVS eLearning - eContents of Informatics Practices
Ten years from now the term e-learning will probably sound as quaint
and redundant as “computerization” or “office automation.” In the last
half of the 17th century there were workshops, conferences, and seminars
touting the virtues of movable type to bring knowledge to the masses
and hawking new printing technologies. Those medieval marketing folks
were at least halfway right: Movable type changed everything. It made
book production cheaper so that more people could access the written
word, it set the stage for the global distribution of knowledge, it
opened new markets for writers, and it created a whole new print-based
industry that continues to thrive in today’s digital world.
Today, we take movable type for granted, and in a short while we’ll
do the same thing with e-learning. But, for right now, the e-learning
revolution is real and forces all learning professionals to think in new
ways about how and where people learn. It also means revisiting some
well-established principles of course development, technology
deployment, and project management to deliver e-learning.
